Duratech Industries, Inc. was founded in 1978 with an idea. Eliminate flash plating by laminating dry film directly over electroless copper, and then reactivate for pattern plate without using a microetch. On the thin electroless deposits of the day that was a tall order. We were successful in that endeavor and Duratech Industries built on that success. The products used to accomplish that goal are still a viable part of our product line.

Today our forte continues to be surface treatments and specialty cleaners for improved dry film performance and the abbreviating of processes and costs. Our antioxidants and adhesion promoters are in use all over the world for one simple reason...they work. The same can be said for our preplate cleaners which are some of the best in the industry.

And we are still finding ways to improve processes. Our newest product in this arena is the DURAPREP™ SSP-1000, with versions being used in the following applications: as a one step cleaner, chromate remover, antioxidant, and photo resist adhesion promoter for innerlayers and flex circuits; as a preclean prior to polyimide coverlay lamination that eliminates oxides and improves the bond; as a MIL Spec. approved cleaner and bonding agent for internals using "adhesiveless" polyimides in the fabrication of rigidflex panels; as a preclean before HASL that eliminates oxidation; as a two minute cleaner and passivator for stainless steel, Kovar, Inconel, nickel, copper, brass, bronze, beryllium copper, titanium, nickel silver, and other alloys that improves resist adhesion and etch factors and eliminates process steps.

Today we are working to bring to market a new process and chemistry for processing dry film on electroless copper that will work in tandem with a very specialized preplate cleaner designed to eliminate the need for a microetch. It will remove no copper from the hole and will once again allow the use of thin deposition electroless coppers in the fabrication of multilayer boards. But more than this, it will improve plating in the very small, high aspect ratio holes and in the blind vias found in so many of today's high tech multilayer boards.
